LAKESIDE, MT - A growing community.

Located in Northwest Montana, on the West shore of Flathead Lake, the community of Lakeside, is bustling with community spirit and pride of new developments.

New business has joined an established neighborhood and business community. New restaurants, churches, banking, grocery, deli-market, convenience gas stations, office buildings, retail shops and community library have expanded into the community once just the home of a few local cafes, bars, motels and RV parks.

An enthusiastic gym-filled crowd celebrated the Grand Opening of the new Lakeside Elementary School in September of 1998. Once the site of an "early warning air-defense installation, Blacktail Mountain Ski Area opens this fall to the delight of local snow-boarders, cross-country and downhill skiers.

Things are definitely happening in Lakeside. Backed by a host of volunteers and citizens that have pitched in to help out, the following community projects were accomplished or are nearing completion:

New beach clean-up and access for the public for swimming in Flathead Lake.

Huge volunteer effort to build the new play ground adjacent to the Elementary School.

Big improvements have been made to Ben Williams Park for the community to enjoy picnicking, walks on improved nature trails, and enhanced play ground areas.

Cruise nights were held throughout the summer that returned the town to the 50’s and 60’s; soft-top convertibles, hot-rods, push-button gear-shifts, fins and great paint jobs.

The annual Holidayfest and Winterfest activities are scheduled for December 11th and February 13th, 1999. Art and craft fairs, ice-fishing derby, pancake breakfast at the local chapel, snowmobile races, promise food and fun for the whole family.

The town’s water and sewer systems have been significantly improved this summer with new lines being installed to better serve the residential and business community.

The community plans to host some of the Flathead Lake Yacht Club sailboat races in the Summer of 1999.
